Frequently asked questions
Is this PDF compressor really free?
Yes — compressing PDFs is free, with no watermarks and no signup. There is no daily cap on how many documents you can compress.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends entirely on what is inside. Scanned documents and image-heavy brochures typically drop 70–90%, because nearly all their weight is photographs that we downsample and re-encode. A PDF of plain text and vector charts is already tightly packed and will only lose a few percent — we show you the estimate before you commit, rather than promising a number we cannot deliver.
Will my text stay selectable and searchable?
Yes. Text is never converted into an image. It is copied through as text, and fonts are subset so only the glyphs your document actually uses are embedded — smaller, but still selectable, searchable and accessible to screen readers.
Will the page count or layout change?
No. Every page comes out in the same order, at the same size, with the same layout. We verify the page count of the finished file before handing it back, so a document that lost a page never reaches you.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
Not while it is protected. An encrypted PDF cannot be rewritten without its password, so we detect that up front and tell you clearly instead of failing halfway through. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then compress.
What happens to my PDF after compression?
Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed on our servers, and permanently deleted within 24 hours. Nobody looks at them and they are never shared.
