No — a width alone is usually what you want. We keep the original aspect ratio, so setting a width of 1920 gives you an image 1920 pixels wide with the height worked out for you. Set both only when the image has to fit inside a specific box; we then fit it within those bounds rather than stretching it, so your image is never distorted.

No, and that is deliberate. Enlarging cannot recover detail that was never captured — it just interpolates the pixels you already have and the result looks soft. If you ask for a size larger than the original, we leave that dimension alone rather than upscaling it and pretending the result is sharper than it is.

Usually far smaller than people expect, because file size scales with pixel count rather than with width. Halving the width also halves the height, so a quarter of the pixels remain — a 4000px photo resized to 1920px typically drops by 70–85%. The predicted size is shown before you upload.
