Frequently asked questions
Can I change text that is already in the PDF?
Not in this version, and we would rather say so than let you find out. A PDF stores text as positioned glyphs in embedded fonts, not as editable paragraphs, so "editing" existing text means re-flowing something that was never a document in that sense. What you can do is cover it and type over it, strike it out, or highlight it — and add as much new text as you like anywhere on the page.
Is my file uploaded, or does this work in my browser?
Both, in a specific way. Your PDF is rendered in your browser so you can see and mark it up, and nothing is sent while you work. When you save, the file and a description of your edits go to our servers, where the edited PDF is written and handed back. That is why a large document does not have to be re-encoded on your phone.
Will my edits look right on other devices?
Yes. Everything you add is written into the PDF itself — text with its font embedded, images, shapes and ink as real page content. It is not a layer that only our viewer understands, so the file opens the same way in Acrobat, Preview, a browser, or a printer.
Can I sign a document?
Yes. Draw your signature with a finger or a mouse, or upload an image of one, then place and size it on the page. Note this is a visible, handwritten-style signature, which is what almost every form asks for — not a cryptographic digital signature, which is on the roadmap.
Can I reorder, delete or rotate pages?
Yes, all three, plus duplicating a page. Drag pages into the order you want, rotate any of them in quarter turns, and remove the ones you do not need. Undo and redo cover every one of those operations, so nothing is one wrong click away from being lost.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The toolbar, the page list and the canvas are built for touch, drawing works with a finger, and the heavy work of writing the file happens on our servers rather than on your device.
What happens to my files?
Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed on our servers, and permanently deleted within 24 hours. Nobody looks at them and they are never shared.
